Two document systems. One desk that speaks both.

生在中国,长在两个体系之间

Every year, thousands of documents travel between the United States and China — degrees chasing job offers, powers of attorney selling apartments, birth certificates registering marriages, corporate papers opening subsidiaries. Each one has to pass through two bureaucracies that were never designed to talk to each other. On the American side: notaries, county recorders, Secretaries of State, federal authentication. On the Chinese side: 公证处, provincial Foreign Affairs Offices, receiving institutions with their own translation rules and six-month freshness windows.

Most services know one side. We built PacificDesk because we live on both. [Your name] was born in China, spent [X] years there, and has spent [X] years in the United States — long enough to know that when a marriage registry in Hangzhou says 不行, no genuine American apostille will argue them out of it. The only thing that works is knowing, before anything is stamped, exactly what that specific office will accept.

That's the whole method: we start every order at the destination and work backward. Which office in China receives this? Do they require the certified copy to be issued within six months? Do they accept US-side translation or insist on local? Only then do we touch the American chain — the fresh certified copies, the correctly worded notarizations, the right Secretary of State. It's slower to ask first. It's much faster than doing it twice.

Where we work 我们的位置

We're based in the San Francisco Bay Area, about an hour from the California Secretary of State's public counter in Sacramento — which is why we can offer genuine same-day California rush service: when your deadline is real, we drive your documents in ourselves. For the other 49 states and federal documents, we run established mail and courier channels; for the China side, we work with a partner channel for 公证处 and Foreign Affairs Office processing. One order, however many chains it takes.

What we believe 我们的原则

Only sell what survives scrutiny. There are shortcuts in this industry — notarized photocopies dressed up as certified copies, certificates that say more than anyone verified. They come back stamped and they fail at the worst possible moment, in front of the office that mattered. We don't sell them. Every certification we submit says only what the certifier actually knows.

Honest triage costs us money and earns us everything else. If your document doesn't need an apostille, we'll tell you. If your old certified copy already qualifies, we'll use it and charge you less. The referral you send us afterward is worth more than the order we talked you out of.

You should always know where your documents are. Photos at intake, updates at every stage transition, full-color scans before anything ships, tracking numbers on WeChat. A six-week government timeline feels fine when you can see the machine moving.
